Contest Format
The contest is for the best shod hunter in the three hunter classes. Horses had to jump a show jumping round and then the clears went through to the conformation section, at which point the feet were judged by the winning farrier from the previous year.
Adele Baldwin’s Steel Clover was judged the winner at the Best Shod Hunter competition at Myerscough College on the 27th March.
Approximately 25 horses made it to the conformation section (see right) where the two horses shod by Paul Conway were chosen as the best, with Karen Scott’s Bentley as runner up.
Paul will now be asked to judge the contest in 2011.

Just a quick message to anyone with a horse or pony that is susceptible to laminitis, with the recent cold snowy weather conditions several cases of “lami” have been reported. Please be very careful about letting your pony/horse graze on short grass that has had a morning of sun on it … I know this sounds extreme but prevention is better than a cure !!

We recently hosted a very popular and successful hound amble for The Vale of Lune Harriers & Three Counties Bloodhounds.
Over 60 riders enjoyed a day of hound exercise with the bloodhounds, stopping off at The Plough At Eaves for port and nibbles, before tackling a few of our training fences on their return. More pictures can be seen on the Vale of Lune Galleries.
If you enjoyed the visit to The Plough At Eaves on the amble please support those who support us and visit them again. Mike and Dorren can be called on 01772 690233 to make your booking.
