We currently employ three farriers.
Paul Conway
Background
Paul has been riding horses since he was five years old, and his early years were in The Pony Club, on the eventing and show jumping teams. Paul started eventing in 1992, and rode his first 2-star at Windsor, just two years later in 1994. Paul rode his first 3-star at Blenheim in 2001, and and image of Paul on his grey, Grimly Fiendish, was used on promotional materials for the 2005 FEI Blenheim PetPlan European Eventing Championships. His British Eventing page only records his achievements as far back as 1999!
Hunting
Paul is Whip for The Vale of Lune Harriers, where his eventing skills and experience with the North East Cheshire drag packs serve him well keeping up with hounds.
His ability to conjure up a cup of tea, seemingly from nowhere, during the middle of a meet, is a matter of wonder for Hunt members and followers alike.
Farriery
Paul qualified as a farrier in 1992 and since then has demonstrated an impressive level of farriery skills, including Best Shod Horse, London Carriage Fair, 2004, and Best Shod Large Hunter, Myerscough, 2008.
Paul is a member of the World Performance Practitioners Squad, and is farrier to riders in all disciplines.
- Eventing – European Eventing Young Riders Team Gold and Individual Bronze winner Ben Hobday.
- Show Jumping – Andrew Mizon, 2nd Hickstead Derby meeting 2007.
- Dressage – international rider and trainer Sarah Turner, Winner PSG Regionals, and Team Rider 2009.
- Driving – Wilf Bowman-Ripley, British Pairs Champion and Team Member.
